The way I see it
Happy Pride Month, McKinney!
June is a vibrant celebration of love, authenticity, and the hard-won progress of the LGBTQ+ community. Here at the McKinney Area Democratic Club, inclusion isn’t just a value, it’s our foundation. We’re proud to stand with our LGBTQ+ neighbors, friends, and family, not only this month but every day. Whether you joined us at our booth during McKinney’s joyful downtown Pride celebration or support from afar, you are welcomed, valued, and essential to our fight for a more equitable Texas. Together, we’re building a community where everyone belongs.
A Historic Stand for Democracy
Separately but equally aligned with our core mission, McKinney witnessed an extraordinary moment of grassroots power on June 14. The nationwide "No Kings" protest, held on Flag Day and a certain president’s birthday, drew an estimated 5,000 people out. This massive, peaceful assembly sent an unambiguous message: We reject authoritarianism and the fascist direction threatening our democracy. Texans from all walks of life stood shoulder-to-shoulder, defending the rule of law, our institutions, and the very soul of our nation.
Why This Matters to MADC
Both events, Pride and the "No Kings" mobilization, reflect who we are:
Pride embodies our commitment to dignity, equality, and belonging for marginalized communities.
"No Kings" echoes our resolve to protect democracy from tyranny and corruption.
When you support MADC, you fuel this dual mission. Thank you for being part of a community that celebrates love and courageously confronts oppression.
In solidarity,
Erin Sutka
